Inspired by her last visit to France in January 2019 when she traveled to Versailles Palace for the first time. The Queen's Hamlet was built for Marie Antoinette as a fancy. She liked to play peasant and this little farming village which still produces vegetables and has livestock was the highlight of the experience for Roxy. The painting was done once home from several photos she took that day. Completed in contemporary impressionism, up close one can see visible brushstrokes and the further one retreats from it, the deeper and more three-dimensional the landscape appears. It is rich in depth and Roxy was enchanted with the fence and field of yellow flowers which offset the overcast of winter. This luxurious painting is best viewed in a large space with plenty of distance for maximum enjoyment.
